Better for your home and your health: lead-free tapware
At WA Country Builders, we believe a home should be more than just a place to live – it should enhance the well-being of everyone who lives there.
That’s why we’re always looking for ways to improve the materials and products we include as standard. As part of this ongoing commitment, we’re pleased to be partnering with Alder Tapware to offer lead-free tapware as part of our specification.

Why lead-free matters
Lead is a toxic metal that, even in small amounts, can be harmful to your health. It poses the greatest risk to young children and pregnant women, and unfortunately, it can leach from plumbing fittings into drinking water, particularly in older homes or areas with more acidic water supplies.
While the risk in new homes is typically low, we believe that when safer alternatives are available, they should be the obvious choice. That’s why we’re proud to offer Alder Tapware’s lead-free range as part of our standard inclusions – well ahead of the new national plumbing regulations coming into effect in 2026.
Why Alder Tapware?
Alder is a trusted name in Australian tapware, and they’re currently transitioning their full range to lead-free. Their commitment to quality and forward-thinking innovation makes them a natural fit for WA Country Builders’ homes.
Their lead-free tapware is not only safer, it’s also stylish, durable, and efficient. It means you won’t have to compromise on design to prioritise health, and your home will be better equipped for the future.

How to know a product is lead-free
As Alder transitions its products, identifying lead-free items is simple. Just look for:
- “LF” in the product name or code
- A “LEAD-FREE” icon on product listings
- Laser-etched markings on the products themselves

Sustainable tapware
Beyond health and safety, Alder’s tapware also leads the way in sustainability. Many of their taps and showers carry top-tier water efficiency ratings: 6 Star (4.5L/min) for mixers and 5 Star (6L/min) for showers.
When you build with WA Country Builders, you don’t have to ask for safer, more sustainable inclusions – they come as standard.
