The Faversham

The Faversham is named after Faversham House in York. Established by the pioneering Monger family in 1840, it has been fully restored, now operates as a guesthouse and is registered with the National Trust and National Estate of the Australian Heritage Commission.

Similar to Faversham House in York, the elevation is broken up by two gables projecting forward of the sweeping verandahs; one being the lock-up garage allowing direct access off the road and the other a projection of the winter room into the front vista.

The double door entry provides access into the house and directly relates to the private office, great if one is running a business from home. The home is split into two wings with the master suite and retreat at one end, and the bedrooms and media centre in the other wing. The office can also double as a fourth bedroom.

Entering to the core of the home, one could be amazed by the large expanse, the fully equipped kitchen with its walk in pantry on one side, entertainment area with bar on the other, and six sided summer room to the rear.

The summer room has a wide expansive verandah, a great place to sit outside in the garden on a hot summer’s day. The verandah and the sun room can really take advantage of your views to the rear. This free form living area which is over 5 metres wide will easily take a large refectory table positioned centrally. Behind the dining and screened off is the winter room with a view to the front; a slightly smaller lounge area in which you could easily build in an open fire.

The bedroom wing has its own media or computer room. This also has direct access to the rear. The bedrooms are roomy and will easily take a queen sized bed and cabinets. The large bathroom, laundry and toilet are located where access can be gained from outside. A broom and linen cupboard is also provided in this wing.

The master suite is something special. It has its own private foyer, entering into a retreat area. This provides a very private space. The sizeable ensuite has a separate toilet, two person shower, corner bath with view to the rear and long vanity. Two walk-in robes have been provided, a his and hers. The bedroom will easily accommodate a king size bed and dressing table.
